“There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” is the perfect song to introduce someone to The Smiths with. Off 1986’s “The Queen Is Dead” this one is one of their best.
As evidenced by his appearance performing the song on ‘Muppets Tonight’, ‘Starfish & Coffee’ by Prince off of his 1987 has a child-like quality about it. But that doesn’t stop it from being awesome!
Detroit’s own Eminem is featured here at Dandy Classic Track of the Day for his outstanding “Stan” which is fan fiction-meet’s ‘Criminal Minds’-meet’s warning and is as good as hip-hop storytelling gets.
With the release of 1991’s “Loveless” LP My Bloody Valentine created a masterpiece, even if they bankrupted their label, Creation, in the process. At least they have “When You Sleep” as comfort :).
“Kissability” by Sonic Youth shows the band in tremendous form on their 1988 masterpiece “Daydream Nation”
The Stylistics are 1970’s R & B at it’s finest. They came swinging out-of-the-gate with the timeless “You Are Everything” on their 1971 debut.
“Come Back” by Pearl Jam is one of my all-time favorite PJ songs and I have no idea why it’s held in higher regard by their fans and rock fans in general. It’s as beautiful as rock music gets.
“My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It) by En Vogue is the song that sounds most like our podcasts theme song. For that alone it deserves to be our Track of the Day!
“I’ll Wait” from the Van Halen mega-hit 1984 is the song many overlook. We don’t make that mistake. It’s a pop-rock masterpiece.
1971 saw the crossover of the comical Jerry Reed from the country to the pop charts with “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot” with as unlikely a Top 10 hit as you’re gonna hear.
