Featured Artist Favorites #50 – 26 – Prince

If you listened to the Prince “Purple Rain” Part 1 podcast that came out yesterday (if not, what are you waiting for :)?), you heard that I had a huge Prince phase that lasted from approximately the fall of 1992 and died out sometime around 1997. I’m talking about an obsession so deep I compiled box sets on tape for me to listen to. I listened to the “Come” and “The Gold Experience” albums more than 99.99999% of the population. However, my fandom tapered off around the time he released yet another lackluster album in 1990’s (I wanna say “Chaos & Disorder” tore it for me). When he would release a new album I barely cared. I have, and still do, listen to vintage Prince on a semi-regular basis. Anyhow, since I’m sure you’re dying to know, I’ve compiled my Top 50 favorite Prince song list. Here’s Part 1 to coincide with the release of Part 1 of the Purple Rain Podcast. Once Part 2 comes out next Monday, I’ll give you 1-25 next week too. I’d be interested to see how many here agree with my picks or think I’m out of my mind. Another thing to keep in mind is how much awesome music this guy produced for about 15 years. I could’ve done a Top 75 easily, and even a Top 100 if pressed. It’s crazy how awesome Prince was/is. So without further ado here’s the list:
